Lesson 1 – Understanding Mental Health
- State a correct definition of mental health.
- Name the most common reasons people don’t seek help for their mental health.
- Identify personal barriers to seeking help, explore sources of those barriers and work on how to address them.
Sixty-six percent of students don’t seek help for their mental health. The Understanding Mental Health lesson focuses on helping students understand what influences their viewpoints of mental health, the reasons they don’t seek help and includes an exercise that allows them to share more about themselves. This lesson is the perfect start to the curriculum, because it provides students with a baseline understanding of the topic that they can build on.
