Sixty-six percent of college students don’t seek help for their mental health. The Understanding Mental Health lesson focuses on helping members understand what influences their viewpoints of mental health, the reasons they don’t seek help and includes an exercise that allows them to share more about themselves. This lesson is the perfect start to the curriculum, because it provides members with a baseline understanding of the topic from which they can build on. Objectives:
  • State a correct definition of mental health.
  • Name the most common reasons people don’t seek help for their mental health.
  • Identify personal barriers to seeking help, explore sources of those barriers and work on how to address them.
