The Your Mental Health lesson gives students the map they need to better conceptualize and talk about their mental health. When people try to work on their mental health, oftentimes they don’t know how to separate what they are trying to address.
In this lesson students will do an exercise that breaks all mental health challenges into 5 categories; Everyday Challenges, Environmental Factors, Significant Events, Mental Health Disorders, and Developmental Disabilities. After learning the 5 categories students are introduced to the mental health spectrum, which is a continuum that helps them see what can be done to achieve balance in their lives.

Objectives:

  • Classify mental health challenges into 5 categories.
  • Identify where students are on the mental health spectrum.
  • Begin connecting how mental health challenges impact where a person is on the mental health spectrum.
