The Changing Ineffective Coping lesson teaches members a definition of coping, sources for how coping mechanisms develop, the differences between effective/ineffective coping and the amount of time it takes to create new coping behaviors. People often do physical exercises help strengthen our bodies. This lesson teaches members that building effective coping mechanisms helps strengthen our minds. Members learn about how neural pathways are formed and their importance in creating new behaviors. The main goal of the lesson is to teach members about the amount of time it takes for a person to learn new behaviors and how essential that is to create effective coping.

Objectives:

  • State a definition of coping.
  • Differentiate the difference between effective and ineffective coping.
  • Demonstrate the steps to make coping more effective.
